Job Description

Please note this position is only available to second or third year undergraduates in current full time education at UWTSD.

Reporting to:      The CEO

Hours of work:  preferably 8 hrs as an absolute minimum per week to start (to be negotiated) and up to 28 hrs per week. Usual working hours are 10am to 5pm (flexible) Monday to Friday. There may be a requirement from time to time to start work earlier or finish later as the role develops and there is potential for an increase in the number of hours offered after the first month of the start of internship.

Duties and responsibilities

This job description is designed to give an overview of the tasks and responsibilities for this position but is by no means definitive. The role will evolve and grow over time to meet business and market demands and training will be given both on the job and through external training channels where appropriate and available. The recruited individual will be expected to embrace such changes and rise to the challenge of developing their skills over time.

This position includes but is not exclusive to the following responsibilities:

o        Marketing Assistant including market, product and supplier research - excellent communication skills are essential for this role

o        Assisting the Director - and in particular when she is away from the office

o        Assisting with the upkeep of the websites and (full training on the job will be given)

o        Customer service skills including pleasant and professional telephone manner and impeccable written and oral correspondence - no second chance to make a first impression so no typos, slang or text speak permitted

o        Data input

o        Being fluent in Photoshop is a key requirement to this role

Essential skills

Good working knowledge of social media platforms

o         PC and internet savvy (Windows – word, excel)

o         Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and /or Illustrator 

o         Excellent oral and written communication skills – excellent grammar A PRIORITY

o         Excellent telephone manner and social graces 

o         A flair or at least an understanding of the principles of design

o         A sunny disposition

o         Level headed

o         Ability to learn and diversify skills

o         Excellent organisational skills

o         Total confidentiality and honesty

o         You MUST be reliable and trustworthy

o         Ability to take the initiative

Desirable skills

Full clean driving licence

o        Previous experience of role advertised, although full on the job training will be given
o        Practical experience of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
o        Experience of CRM management
o        Experience of Mailchimp management
o        An interest in flags and vexillology, the manufacture of textile goods and best business practice
o        A flair for design and an imagination to challenge the norm.
